Could you please post La Liga 2013/2014 Top Rated players later ? In my opinion, it's pretty futile to combine all top european clubs' players in a group, since they pretty much face different opponents in their respective domestic leagues .

The ratings are not for a specific league: the averages include all the competitions of the season.
ReplyDeleteYeah, i got that, but a team predominantly faces opponents in its domestic league, from its country. Madrid , Barcelona, Bilbao, and Atletico Madrid played 38 times against teams of La Liga of their own country, therefore they are more comparable to each other , rather than to teams in Bundesliga, who played 34 times against completely other teams in Germany. and those domestic leagues games are predominant in comparison to European competition in quantity (like 38 domestic games to 13 international games to 10 domestic cup games for each qualified team).
ReplyDeleteUnless Barcelona also face the likes of Moenchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt and other Bundesliga teams, Dortmund face Sevilla , Getafe and other La Liga teams, players in La Liga and Bundesliga can't be ranked directly like aforementioned above.
I chose to combine the ratings in this way to reduce the bias of one or two publications to a minimum. To take some examples: PSG's league matches are usually rated not only by L'Équipe and other French publications, but also by Gazzetta dello Sport, which makes the average more reliable. It is also my opinion that you need a considerable bulk of ratings to make a realiable average: a player who makes 10-15 league matches in a season will have an average that may be too much influenced by one or two extreme matches, but if you have 5 or 6 cup matches to add to that, the result will be more interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhat I may consider is to make an average rating only taking into consideration matches vs top class opponents, which means that "top class opponents" have to be defined.
